THE JOURNEY CONTINUES:

THE RUGGLES
2024 JOURNEY

Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year

In January, Elizabeth turned 17 and, in the spring, she finished her junior year. She was on
the Girl's Soccer Team and played on the Varsity as a defender. In August, she started her
Senior year and began working at McDonald's for four to five evenings. Because she was done
with most of her basic classes, she was able to take some fun classes: cooking and sewing
which she learned some basic skills. She also was able to get back in choir and has sung,
some solos in her concerts. She will be graduating next May on the 18th. Save the Date.

In February, we went on a family mission trip to Mexico to work at Children's Haven International.
We served the children's home by wiring up lights, fixing light fixtures, shoveling rock and dirt
to cover up a sewer line and playing with the children of the home home. It was a good experience
for our family. On the way home we were involved in a four-van accident but God was good and
we walked away with bumps and bruises and Lydia had a fractured leg.

In March on the 13th, our 4th grandchild was born to Ruth and Keanon. At home, Chloe, Eva and
Sammy welcomed Grant Nathan Hurst into their family. Granny Ve was able to meet him and
spend two weeks with the Hurst family in April. Papa Steve went in August and the kids will
meet their nephew over Christmas Break.

In April, Jacob turned 14. He finished 8th grade with an 8th Grade promotion in May. This fall
he started his Freshman Year at Winfield High School and started his first year in High School
Soccer. He improved his skill and was playing part time on the Varsity. Jacob enjoys lifting
weights, playing piano and cello. Jacob finished his 6th Book in Awana and received the
Meritorious Trophy.

In May, Timothy graduated from Winfield High School. Timothy moved out last December but
finished his education. He worked most of this year for McDonalds but recently changed jobs
and is working for Creekstone Meat Packing Company in Ark City. Timothy has been dating
Brylee for over a year and they came to celebrate Thanksgiving with us.

In June, we took a trip back East and we drove in sixteen states and two countries: United
States and Canada. We visited several cousins along the way, went to the Ark Encounter,
Creation Museum, saw the Monuments in Washington DC, rode the Maid of the Mist at
Niagara Falls, saw "The Bean" in Chicago, and played at the Wisconsin Dells Water Parks.

In July, Daniel turned 12. This spring he finished his 5th grade at Trinty. In the fall he
started 6th grade at Trinity. This past year he participated in indoor and outdoor soccer
and basketball. In Awana, Daniel finished his 3rd book in Truth and Training and received
the T&T Challenge Award Medallion.

In August during Steve's Trip to Alaska, he helped Ruth's family move from Ketchikan, Alaska
to Fairbanks, Alaska. Steve drove the U-Haul full of Keanon and Ruth's possession on a Ferry
which they rode for 39 hours and then drove for a 12-hour road trip across Canada and Alaska.
He then stayed with Ruth and family and played with the grandkids, and did some sightseeing.
Ruth and Keanon purchased their first house but needed Steve to do some daughter do list.
Keanon is pastoring fulltime at Shannon Park Baptist Church in Fairbanks, Alaska.

In September, Lydia turned 10. This year she finished her 3rd grade in the Spring. She chose
to do tumbling instead of ballet at DanceCamp and had her 4th recital in May. In the fall,
she started 4th grade at Trinity. This past year she continues to do tumbling, indoor and
outdoor soccer and basketball. In Awana, Lydia finished her 1st Book in Truth and Training
and received the Alpha Award Medallion.

In October, Steve and Veva had several routine medical procedures. Veva also had nose and
ear surgery. She is healing nicely but age has slowed down the process of gaining back her energy.

In November, we celebrated Thanksgiving at our home with Peter and Laurel. Peter continues
to live in Lawrence and plugging away at his job. Recently Peter and Laurel did a half
marathon race in between Laurel working on her 2nd year of Medical School.

In December, we are celebrating Christmas and New Years with the Hurst family in Alaska.
We will let you know what we thought of the cold and darkness there.

God gave His greatest gift to us that first Christmas Day, JESUS, and may the wonder of
it always guide and light your way.
